Climate17 is seeking a Senior Project Manager for Renewable Energy projects in Poole, UK. The role involves managing the delivery of Battery Energy Storage, Solar PV, and Grid Stability projects, focusing initially on pre-construction activities and later on full lifecycle support. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, managing budgets, and leading project teams. Candidates should have experience in renewable infrastructure and a degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
Job Description
Climate17 are working with a leading UK IPP who have a growing UK portfolio of projects across BESS, Solar and Grid Stability.
They require a Senior Project Manager to support the delivery of renewable energy projects across Battery Energy Storage (BESS), Solar PV and Grid Stability assets.
Initially, the role will be focused on pre-construction and back-office activities, including project strategy, procurement, technical coordination and readiness for construction. As projects progress, the role will transition into full lifecycle delivery support.
Responsibilities
Deliver development and construction projects in line with agreed health and safety standards, programme timescales, budgets, quality requirements, and full compliance with Project Management Office and Project Life Cycle governance frameworks.Ensure all managed projects comply with planning requirements, environmental permits, and current Health & Safety legislation, including CDM Regulations, acting as Client and ensuring adherence to all relevant statutory requirements.Lead, manage, and motivate internal and external professional, technical, legal, and engineering resources, including suppliers, contractors, and consultants.Develop capital budgets and manage, monitor, control, and report on capital expenditure across construction projects and sites, identifying trends, variations, and deviations from approved budgets.Support the Procurement Team in selecting appropriate contract strategies for project delivery and interfaces, ensuring project risks are minimised and developments remain commercially viable and bankable.Requirements
Proven experience delivering renewable or power infrastructure projectsStrong understanding of grid-connected projects, ideally at 66kV or 132kV, or transmission-connected assetsSolid background in electrical engineering or power systemsExperience across pre-construction, project set, procurement and constructionStrong commercial awareness with the ability to manage budgets and contractsDegree in Electrical Engineering is ideal (or related discipline)IOSH / NEBOSH (desirable)Experience delivering BESS, Solar or grid stability projects (desirable)Familiarity with NEC or similar forms of contract (desirable)Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership (desirable)Full UK driving licence (essential)About Us
