TransGrid is seeking a Senior Project Developer based in Sydney or Newcastle, NSW, to lead customer-focused energy infrastructure projects. The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Developer to join our team, with the flexibility to be based in Sydney or Newcastle, NSW.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development, planning, and management of customer-focused projects within Transgrid’s non-prescribed portfolio. These projects include generator connections, telecommunications, and transmission line modifications, playing a critical role in shaping the future of energy infrastructure in Australia.
You will be involved in projects from initiation through to execution, ensuring that technical feasibility, scope definition, cost estimation, risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement are effectively managed. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and collaboration skills to navigate complex projects and deliver high-quality solutions that align with regulatory and industry standards.
Additionally, you will work closely with customers, regulatory bodies, and internal teams to drive project success. Your role will involve providing technical guidance, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and ensuring all projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining high safety and environmental standards. A Day in the Life as a Senior Project Developer at Transgrid
• Lead the development and execution of transmission line and substation projects, ensuring compliance with technical, financial, and regulatory requirements.
• Define project scope, budgets, and schedules, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
• Provide technical leadership and problem-solving expertise, ensuring infrastructure designs meet operational and regulatory standards.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities to achieve successful outcomes within time and budget constraints.
• Build strong relationships with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders, aligning project objectives and expectations.
About You
• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related field) with relevant industry experience - Preferred background in Electrical Engineering - Industrial and Civil Engineers with experience in electrical assets and infrastructure will be considered.
• Deep experience in transmission line and substation projects, including development, cost estimation, project management, or design.
• Strong project management skills, including risk mitigation, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with a proactive and solutions-driven mindset.
• Knowledge of legislation, Australian Standards, and Government policies related to safety and engineering.
