The Sr. Procurement Manager or Director will oversee procurement of major PV, BESS, and wind equipment for utility-scale projects. Responsibilities include developing procurement strategies, identifying reliable suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality equipment.
Responsibilities:
• Develop a multi-year commodity procurement strategy to support a 1GW/year pipeline of solar, wind, and energy storage projects.
• Stay informed of technological trends and government policies affecting the market, and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.
• Monitor supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Incorporate market intelligence and vendor input into procurement and contracting strategies.
• Collaborate with technical teams and suppliers to reduce LCOE ($/W).
• Develop supplier strategies for energy storage, inverter, GSU, and wind turbine suppliers.
• Support project management teams during development phases.
• Supervise procurement staff.
• Design and execute competitive RFP processes.
• Negotiate agreements regarding scope, price, terms, delivery, and contract modifications.
• Review cost proposals and monitor project costs, analyzing variances.
• Ensure effective contract negotiations aligning with safety, cost, delivery, schedule, and quality objectives.
• Mitigate risks through alignment of major project agreements.
• Engage regularly with development, legal, engineering, construction, operations, and asset management teams.
• Resolve material changes to agreements collaboratively.
• Maintain an internal scorecard to evaluate and prioritize suppliers.Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years in strategic sourcing, commodity management, and contract negotiation, with energy storage procurement experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, or business.
• Project management experience with large-scale solar, wind, or storage projects.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts clearly.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
• Proven ability to manage multiple contracts successfully and negotiate large contracts.
• Knowledge of utility-scale solar, storage, and wind development is a plus.
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders.
