Senior Policy Officer

The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action is hiring a Senior Policy Officer for the Sector Governance team in Australia. This role involves collaborating on governance projects for water corporations and requires strong project delivery and stakeholder management skills. A background in public policy, law, or governance is preferred. The position offers flexible work arrangements, including hybrid options, and aims to promote integrity and community focus.
The Sector Governance team is looking for someone who is enthusiastic and people-oriented: someone who enjoys working with a diverse range of people to draw together ideas and build upon the foundations of Victoria's public sector governance framework.

The Sector Governance team's objective is to deliver best practice in the governance of the water sector and to embed integrity, diversity and a community focus in everything we do. The Senior Policy Officer will work collaboratively with Sector Governance team members on a range of governance projects to support Victoria's water corporations, catchment management authorities and the Victorian Environmental Water Holder.

This role requires excellent project delivery and stakeholder management skills, strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as demonstrated success in writing high-quality documents on policy or governance concepts.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
• A tertiary qualification in public policy, law, governance or environment related fields is desirable.
• Proven ability to work across government and organisations to influence policies and programs.
• A working knowledge of the Victorian public sector governance framework is desirable.
• Demonstrated success in writing high-quality documents on policy or governance concepts.
• Experience in MS Office, including MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel is essential.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
