Danone is seeking a (Senior) Packaging Sustainability & Capabilities Team Leader in Utrecht, Netherlands. The role focuses on developing sustainable packaging strategies, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and managing the R&I Packaging Lab. As the (Senior) Packaging Sustainability & Capabilities Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in developing and executing sustainable packaging strategies for Danone and building our capabilities for the future. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and implement sustainable packaging practices throughout our product lines, promoting ways to work smarter, and unlock technology to accelerate our Innovation journey.

This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, product development, manufacturing, and supply chain to deliver packaging solutions that meet customer needs, business objectives, and sustainability goals.

In addition to Sustainability the role will be responsible for our R&I Packaging Lab and new Design studio in Utrecht, investments made to enhance our capabilities and ensure leadership in Packaging R&I.

In the role of (Senior) Packaging Sustainability & Capabilities Team Leader, your responsibilities encompass a comprehensive approach to fostering sustainability and innovation within Danone's packaging practices.

You will begin by developing and implementing a robust packaging sustainability strategy, strategically designed to minimize environmental impact. Leading a dedicated effort, you will identify and evaluate sustainable packaging materials and technologies, ensuring that the company stays at the forefront of eco-friendly solutions. Collaborating seamlessly with design, engineering, and product teams, you'll integrate these sustainable packaging solutions into both new and existing products. This involves conducting extensive research on industry trends and regulations related to sustainable packaging, ensuring compliance and alignment with emerging standards.

Your commitment to continuous improvement is reflected in the vigilant monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) and the implementation of corrective actions as needed. Simultaneously, you'll establish partnerships with suppliers, vendors, and industry associations, fostering collaborative efforts to promote sustainable packaging practices both internally and externally. In this job you also will be responsible for:

- Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on sustainable packaging initiatives.
- Communicate progress and achievements in sustainability efforts internally and externally.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements, customer needs, and market trends to develop packaging concepts that drive brand differentiation.
- Manage the development of packaging prototypes, ensuring they meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and cost targets.
- Evaluate existing packaging systems and identify opportunities for improvement in terms of sustainability, functionality, and cost efficiency.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, materials innovation, and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement in packaging design and manufacturing processes. –
- Establish relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and industry experts to leverage their expertise in packaging design, materials sourcing, and production technologies.
- Develop and manage the department budget, ensuring cost-effective execution of packaging initiatives

### About you

We are looking for someone who has a
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Materials Science, Packaging Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in sustainable packaging or related roles.
- Deep understanding of sustainable packaging principles, best practices, and industry trends.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, recycling processes, and circular economy principles.
- Proven track record in successfully implementing sustainable packaging initiatives.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
