Job Description

APA Group is seeking a Senior Operations Secure Energy Specialist for a full-time, 2-year fixed-term role based in Brisbane, Melbourne, or Adelaide. The position involves conducting risk assessments, developing risk treatment plans, and implementing security strategies to enhance asset protection. Candidates should have qualifications in security studies or related fields and experience in the energy industry or protective security. The team focuses on operational excellence and achieving net zero ambitions.

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Operations Physical Security Specialist to join us in our Operations Physical Security team in Brisbane, Melbourne or Adelaide on a full time 2-year fixed term contract.

Reporting to the Program Manager Operations Physical Security, you will play a key role in providing specialised technical support in the Operations Physical Security team for the Operations Physical Security Program.

Key Responsibilities
• Plan, organise and conduct asset / site level risk assessments including the aggregation and reporting of risk assessments into asset and enterprise risk registers.
• Develop risk treatment plans based on output from asset / site level risk assessments to enable cost effective physical security uplift of assets.
• Set strategic direction and scope for the management of Operations Physical Security, including developing and implementing effective risk management, compliance and performance standards.
• Design and implement strategies to reduce security incidents/breaches. Monitor breach trends, record, review, and ensure corrective/preventative actions are taken.
• Coordinate system and process audits for compliance with security standards, including security equipment, lighting, and CCTV. Ensure issues/breaches are rectified.

Your background
• Formal qualifications or bachelor’s degree in security studies, risk management, project management or a related field (essential)
• Extensive experience with construction, operation, and maintenance of energy industry assets or in protective security profile or equivalent i.e. physical security, personnel security, operational risk (essential)
• Knowledge of Security of Critical Infrastructure (SoCI) act, specifically requirements for physical assets (preferred)
• Demonstrated experience with Emergency Management Systems and supporting risk management programs. (preferred)
• Demonstrated experience in managing and delivering national change initiatives/business improvement projects, (preferred)
