Job Description

Airswift is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a contract position in Darwin, NT, Australia. The role involves ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance, maintaining technical integrity of mechanical equipment, and implementing maintenance strategies at an onshore LNG facility. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, over 10 years of experience in oil and gas operations, and strong knowledge of mechanical systems.

Position Overview
• We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Facilities Engineering team within the Operations Support department.
• The role is based in Darwin, supporting the sustained operations of a leading onshore LNG facility.

Responsibilities
• Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
• Conduct activities safely and efficiently, adhering to organizational policies.
• Ensure the welfare of personnel and the protection of assets and the environment.

Technical Integrity and Compliance
• Maintain technical integrity of mechanical equipment, meeting safety case performance standards and design assumptions.
• Oversee maintenance strategies and ensure accuracy and currency of equipment drawings.

Reliability and Maintenance
• Implement preventive maintenance tasks and performance monitoring programs.
• Manage quality assurance for contractor and staff work.
• Analyze operational data, troubleshoot failures, and implement plant improvements.
• Develop and oversee condition monitoring programs.

Risk Management
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with mechanical equipment.
• Implement assurance plans to ensure risk controls.

Technical Expertise
• Provide technical input for maintenance and operational strategies.
• Support breakdowns, planned shutdowns, and management of change.
• Evaluate vendor documentation, develop engineering standards, and conduct safety analyses.
• Mentor less experienced engineers.

Planning and Budgeting
• Contribute to budgeting cycles and maintenance/shutdown planning for the LNG facility.

Performance Management
• Set measurable goals and contribute to training and development initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; postgraduate qualifications are a plus.
• Over 10 years of experience in oil and gas operations, with a focus on maintenance or integrity. Combined Cycle Power Station experience is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of industry standards related to mechanical systems.

Technical Skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and SAP.
• Expertise in mechanical systems and operational environments, particularly static mechanical equipment.

Other Requirements
• Capability to review technical evaluations and vendor documentation.
• Experience in risk and safety analysis (e.g., HAZID, HAZOPS, RCA).
