BASF Renewable Energy is BASF’s arm for setting the pace and creating new ideas for BASF on its way to net zero scope 2 emissions. That implies building and expanding our own renewable power assets (“make”) and overseeing the acquisition of Renewable Energy with long- term supply agreements (“buy”) all across the NA Region.

As a Senior Manager for Renewable Energy in NA, you will create and manage renewable energy projects in North America, with a focus on the USA. Your key responsibilities will include leading negotiations, managing contracts, establishing risk management protocols, and serving as the main expert for renewable energy technologies in the region.

As a Senior Manager Renewable Energy, you create chemistry by...
• Creating pipeline and managing "buy and make" renewable energy projects in North America, focusing on the USA, and lead negotiations for these projects. You will also ensure projects progression, and will be responsible for Derivative approvals and proper accounting when projects come on-line in alignment with finance and controlling groups.
• Aligning closely with BASF Renewable Energy in Ludwigshafen for project evaluation and negotiation tactics.
• Serving as the NA representative in the PPA Expert Team (PET) and manage existing signed contracts for Renewable Energy in NA.
• Act as the point of contact for ERCOT, including lobby and testimony aligned with Government affairs, and manage electricity purchase and risk management for main ERCOT sites. In line with this, you will also manage relationships with Qualified Scheduling Entities and Power Marketing Companies in ERCOT, including issue and retirement of RECs.
• Initiating the establishment of trading capabilities, first focused on RECs and then on power. You will act as the point of contact for businesses for understanding their Green Power needs and establishing RECs supply.
• Positioning yourself as the main senior expert for energy markets and technologies in BASF Renewable Energy NA by providing coaching to junior members when it comes to negotiations and market dynamics.

If you...
• Have a Master’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or Chemistry (or equivalent) will be highly preferred
• Possess 10+ years of working experience in business and project functions incl.7+ years' experience in the field of energy and power markets in the US
• Have a deep understanding of the market rules and operations in the energy/power markets in Texas, and of power trading in ERCOT
• Are able to collaborate across functions and regions
• Possess strong business sense, negotiation, communication and analytical skills, as well as financial acumen
• Are willing and able to travel 50% of the time
