Job Description
Jupiter Power is seeking a Senior Manager for Energy Storage Project Development in Chicago, IL. The role involves managing project development activities, including permitting, land acquisition, and design planning for energy storage projects. Candidates should have over 5 years of experience in energy project development. The position requires in-office attendance at least three times a week as per the company's return-to-office policy.

Backed by BlackRock’s Diversified Infrastructure business, Jupiter Power has a strategic and established portfolio of 787.5/1375 of utility-scale energy storage projects operating or in construction in the U.S., with a leading pipeline of over 11,000 MW in active development.
Jupiter seeks to grow its team with the recruitment of a key hire to help manage project development activities. There are multiple positions available, and roles may be focused on one or more of ERCOT, WECC, CAISO, SPP, MISO, or PJM regions. Responsibilities include all key development activities ranging from complex permitting and land acquisition efforts to advancing conceptual design, planning, interconnection, and supporting construction and project execution. As a tight-knit, interdisciplinary team, we collaborate on priorities and expect individuals to be flexible and focused on advancing the broader team goals. This individual is expected to be a quick learner, hard-working, and enthusiastic about working with the entire development and broader Jupiter teams to advance Jupiter’s significant and growing platform. This individual is expected to apply ‘best- in-class’s principles and can expect their coworkers to do the same.
This role is based out of the Company’s Chicago, IL office and is subject to our return-to-office policy which currently requires that employees come into the office a minimum of three times per week.
Principal Responsibilities
• Advance Jupiter’s leading portfolio of development positions from initial desktop screening through pre-construction
• Identify and develop relationships with key stakeholders – landowners, government officials, first responders, counterparties, environmental, market and technical experts, and advance projects through complex permitting processes
• Advance the broader development team’s goals and creation of best practices for energy storage development
• Create and manage project budgets, development plans, and schedules to ensure projects are on track through all phases
• Lead internal and external teams to advance permitting, interconnection and engineering activities to bring projects to NTP
• In collaboration with internal and external teams, master the evolving market, transmission, regulatory and competitive dynamics in target markets
• Outline and manage project due diligence for commercial and M&A activities
• Support internal investment approval process and prepare board materials for approval
Requirements
• 5+ years of experience in energy project development, preferably focused on standalone energy storage
• Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail paired with the organization and prioritization skills required to navigate high-stakes, complex processes
• Experience building and leading internal and external teams to successfully deliver complex development projects
• Unafraid to take ownership, work hard, and take initiative to be effective within a highly motivated, fast-moving team
• Comfortable with ambiguity and making business decisions with limited information on tight timelines
• High comfort level with small teams & organizations, with the curiosity and enthusiasm to innovate and formulate new ideas and to bring the best out of co-workers
• (Preferred) Familiarity with energy storage technologies and deployments
Compensation & Benefits
$140,000 - $170,000
This pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Jupiter Power considers a number of factors when determining starting compensation such as the position requirements and the candidate's qualifications.
In addition to base pay, the total annual compensation package may also include eligibility to participate in our bonus and equity programs.
