Job Description

DP World is seeking a Senior Manager for Business Development and Sales in Johannesburg, South Africa. The role involves enhancing market presence and client relationships by analyzing industry intelligence and optimizing supply chain services. Responsibilities include client prospecting, retention strategies, business development planning, and team management. Candidates should have a relevant degree and 8-10 years of experience in logistics and sales management.
Job Function

To provide expertise, advice, support and report on growing the organisation's market presence and client base through the analysis of industry and market intelligence and the selling of supply chain optimisation services and technology, that improve organisational value chain integration and performance. To lead, integrate and align the Business Development, Sales and Client / Customer Service function for the business nationally through the development and implementation of a functional strategy and operating model that enables a high-performance culture, client satisfaction, reduced risk and compliance to regulatory and legislative requirements.

Key Performance Areas:

Client/Customer
• Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
• Analyse client and other business intelligence to identify, justify and drive opportunities to optimise service delivery to internal / external clients / customers.
• Develop and execute applicable client growth strategies in the context of a service and market strategy as well as an analysis of client intelligence.
• Analyse, report on and improve applicable client performance indicators.

Client/ Customer Retention
• Fully understand the clients’ business and identify areas we can add value to the customer’s supply chain
• Formulate strategies in conjunction with the customer to meet specific customer needs
• Manage customer relationships with key decision makers within the customer’s organisation
• Develop relationships with new and potential client to continue to build business opportunities
• Be a driving force within the Company by building trust and cooperation at all levels within the client’s organisation.
• Champion the customer’s needs throughout the Company.

Business Development Planning
• Continuous learning, provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
• Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services.
• Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.

Management and Research
• Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
• Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company
• Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the team.
• Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.
• Ensure all team members represent the company in the best light.
• Research and develop a thorough understanding of the company’s people and capabilities.
• Understand the company’s goal and purpose utilizing the knowledge to continuously enhance the company’s performance.
• People management and development skills

Qualifications Required:
• Relevant Business/Logistics/Marketing Bachelor’s degree or Diploma
• Basic financial qualifications would be an advantage

Experience and Skills Required:
• 8 - 10 years' relevant work experience
• More than 5 years’ experience in the Transport, Logistics and Supply Chain Industry in management or senior role
• Leading/Managing a Marketing and Sales department is essential
