The Opportunity:
The Legal Project Managers in our Legal Operations team help to drive greater efficiency, transparency and certainty in legal matters through the provision of effective project management support.
Your role will involve working closely with clients, Partners, lawyers, and your Ashurst Advance colleagues to apply Project Management methodologies to live matters and may also include client secondments and internal firm projects linked to further driving efficiency and profitability. The team also offers a LegalOps Consulting service which helps clients outpace operational change and find creative risk mitigation solutions for a range of matters.
As a result of strategic growth, we are currently looking to hire a Senior Legal Project Manager in either Sydney or Melbourne to support our Disputes and/or Transactions practice groups. Depending on the specific legal experience and skills you bring you will help to implement and enhance the practice group's adoption of legal project management and continue to build cohesive collaboration between the practice group and Ashurst Advance.
On a daily basis you will support the Director of Legal Operations (based in the UK) to deliver strategic goals, including leading business development initiatives, developing and launching new capabilities, building the Ashurst Advance LPM profile internally and externally in the region, and leading training initiatives. All these activities will be in close collaboration with colleagues in the legal practice groups, Ashurst Advance, Ashurst Consulting, and business development teams.
This role combines practical project management support, strategic growth leadership, and stakeholder/client relationship management.

We are interested in hearing from people who have:
• Extensive Project Management experience of large transactions/projects and/or disputes, in a professional services or consultancy firm.
• Ideally you will be a qualified transactional or disputes lawyer with a minimum of 3 years' practicing experience, however this is not essential.
• Experience managing the whole project lifecycle, including scoping, scheduling, costing, resourcing, communications, quality and risk control.
• An ability to build relationships quickly and engage commercially and effectively with internal and external stakeholders/clients at all levels.
• A desire to be a part of a growing team that's seeking to change the way we provide advice to our clients.
• An ability to communicate and present complex matters in a clear and effective manner using plain English (both verbally and written).
• Curiosity and an enthusiasm to challenge, innovate and think differently.
• Experience utilising legal technology, including generative AI, and a keen desire to be across technological change and how to utilise that to deliver advice/support for stakeholders.
• Qualifications and experience in change management and process improvement such as PROSCI® and Lean Six Sigma is desirable but not essential.
• APM, PMP, PRINCE2, AGILE or equivalent project management certifications is desirable but not essential
