Alinta Energy is seeking a Senior Lawyer - Environment & Planning to provide legal oversight on land tenure and environmental issues within their development projects in Australia. The role involves advising on legal risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic planning. Candidates should have a law degree and a minimum of 6 years' experience. About The Role
Reporting to the Senior Legal Manager, Development and Generation, you will play a critical role in mitigating legal risks associated with land access, environmental and planning matters across our exciting development projects and operations by providing expert legal advice and support. You will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to industry best practices

What you'll do:
• Provide crucial legal support to our Generation & Development team, directly influencing strategic planning from the ground up, ensuring seamless environmental and planning approvals and securing appropriate land tenure
• Drive our development projects forward by proactively advising on all environmental and planning issues (including development approval pathways), and land tenure agreements (leases, easements, access licences))
• Represent Alinta Energy in pivotal negotiations
• Partner with cross-functional teams to build robust risk mitigation strategies to drive organisational success
• Be the subject matter expert on all legislation and industry trends
Your experience:
• Law degree, admitted to practice in an Australian jurisdiction (minimum 6 years’ PQE).
• Considerable legal experience (with a major law firm or in an in-house counsel role with a major company).
• Commerciality and a keen awareness of business strategy.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong internal working relationships.
• Ability to transform legal issues into workable solutions within a business context.
This role is best suited to a proactive individual who has experience working within a complex and deadline-driven environment.
