Job Description
MSCI is seeking a Senior Geospatial Technical Researcher focused on nature and physical risk in Amsterdam. The role involves implementing methodologies for assessing biodiversity impacts, collaborating with research and development teams, and ensuring data quality. Candidates should have 3-5 years of experience in data manipulation, software development (especially Python), and knowledge of climate and biodiversity risks. The company promotes a high-performance culture with flexible working arrangements.
Your Team Responsibilities
We build cutting-edge software to identify and analyze the exposure of companies, properties, and financial assets to climate change and biodiversity impact, risks and opportunities. It’s our goal to alert investors of the biodiversity impact and risk profiles of their investments and to tackle climate change at the roots. Your Key Responsibilities
• Act at the intersection between nature and biodiversity research and technical model implementation
• Work closely with other research team members, our development team members, and other stakeholders
• Implement, test and document new methodologies and computations and the integration of nature related tools and data sets
• Communicate complex topics in a simple way to internal and external stakeholders not familiar with the topics
• Contribute to the development of methodologies and models to assess biodiversity impact and risks, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance our solutions.
• Control the data quality at all computational steps
Your skills and experience that will help you excel
• 3-5 years of professional experience
• Experience in data manipulation and software development, particularly Python
• Relevant experience in the fields of climate, nature and biodiversity
• Specialized knowledge in biodiversity and nature-related risks in the context of the financial service industry is a plus
• Experience in geospatial analysis is a plus
• Ability to work as part of a multi-cultural and geographically distributed team
• Self-motivated, pro-active and demonstrating an exceptional drive towards delivery
