Senior Geologist / Scientist I

Roux is seeking a Senior Geologist / Scientist I in New Jersey to manage environmental investigation and remediation projects. Candidates should have a relevant degree, 10+ years of consulting experience, and knowledge of NJDEP regulations. Responsibilities include project management, technical data review, proposal preparation, and staff mentoring. The role involves both office and fieldwork, requiring physical activity at various project sites.
Position Overview

This position provides project management and technical leadership of environmental investigation and remediation projects, as well as assists in the development of technical staff to meet client and organizational needs.

Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical field.
• Minimum of 10 years of environmental consulting experience .
• Experience with remedial investigations & remedial actions for multimedia sites
• An understanding of the NJDEP’s Contaminated Site Remediation & Redevelopment program rules, regulations and guidance.
• Holds professional certification as applicable (P.G./CPG, /LSRP)
• Proficient in performing senior level interpretation work including remedial cost estimates
• Experience designing and managing site/ remedial Investigation activities and performing hydrogeologic interpretation and development of conceptual site models.
• Demonstrated project management skills.
• Experience managing field personnel and subcontractors.
• Advanced data evaluation and analytical skills.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to support the technical growth of project/staff level professionals based on direct hands-on interactions.

Essential Duties
• Project Management:
• Manage projects or large tasks within complex projects including project planning, Health & Safety preparation, and scheduling and coordination of project resources.
• Ensure that individual task schedules, budgets, and client invoicing are performed in accordance with Company standards and client requirements to complete project work.
• Technical Data Review and Report Preparation:
• Self-perform technical work aligned with senior experience and technical discipline
• Coordinate and provide quality control for data collection and review of project results, including the reduction of field data and performing or providing oversight for technical interpretations and data analysis.
• Interpret data, develop conclusions and recommendations, and prepare client -ready reports for Project Principal review.
• Proposal Preparation and Business Development :
• Assist with the preparation of proposals, cost estimates, and assist with other marketing activities.
• Staff Mentoring and Training:
• Participate in the development of junior staff and work with senior management to continue to grow as a consultant and leader of the firm.

Physical Demands/Work Environment Conditions

This position occasionally provides oversight and/or works in the field, and predominantly works in an office environment. In the field, candidate will be working independently or more commonly will be leading a larger team at exterior project sites (i.e., industrial/ brownfield facilities, monitoring wells, treatment systems, construction projects). These field activities require the ability to drive to different project sites and physically move around outdoors in various terrains, and occasionally in adverse weather conditions. Office work is primarily stationary/sedentary using a computer and keyboard/mouse requiring repetitive hand movements.
