Job Description

The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action is hiring a Senior Forest & Wildlife Officer in Victoria, Australia. This role involves leading investigations and compliance operations related to wildlife and forest management. Candidates should have a Certificate IV in government investigations or equivalent experience. The position offers flexible work arrangements within the Gippsland Region, including hybrid options. Senior Forest and Wildlife Officers are Authorised Officers under a range of legislation that lead and contribute to intelligence-driven investigations and enforcement operations relating to wildlife, forest produce, land and fire management operations.

The purpose of this position is to contribute to the spectrum of compliance programs including education, engagement, inspections and assessments, monitoring and enforcing compliance. Snr Officers contribute to delivering service excellence and a safety culture within the Regulator.

The position sits within the regional Regulatory Operations Branch and plans and delivers strategic operations and intelligence led investigations consistent with Conservation Regulator's risk-based, intelligence-led approach to conservation regulation.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
• A Certificate IV in government investigations (or an equivalent qualification) and/or experience in the application of environmental regulation is highly desirable.
• Knowledge and understanding of Victorian conservation regulatory legislation, policy and the planning and delivery of compliance operations.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within the Gippsland Region with hybrid work arrangements available.
