Compensation Range
Annual Salary: $116,500.00 - $139,000.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

The main purpose of this job is to review financial advisory services staff work for quality control and provide accountability for all applicable individual goals.

Essential Functions
• Develop and present the financial plans and coordinate any implementation with Commerce Trust Company (CTC) staff or outside providers
• Develop and present educational financial planning seminars on various topics directed toward both internal employees of Commerce and clients/prospects
• Write and edit CTC newsletters along with other marketing and/or educational material
• Coordinate staffing issues related to financial plan production
• Mentor financial planning team members in career development and in technical knowledge of financial planning issues
• Review team member work for quality control and provide accountability for all applicable individual goals
• Achieve yearly goals for number of plans produced, number of financial planning meeting and revenue goals related to asset management and private banking. Work with clients and/or referral sources to gather information needed to prepare the financial plan.
• Analyze client financial information while working either independently or with a financial planning analyst
• Meet with clients/prospects to explain the benefits of financial planning at Commerce Trust and the general financial planning process
• Develop and market the benefits of financial planning to key external and internal referral sources
• Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
• Strong knowledge of financial planning techniques along with in-depth knowledge of financial plan creation and established financial plan delivery skills
• Strong knowledge in the areas of income taxation, insurance, estate planning, retirement planning, investments, employee compensation and trust services.
• Strong knowledge of the asset management process
• Ability to manage a complex relationship sales cycle in a team environment
• Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
• Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook

Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Management or equivalent combination of education and experience required
• 7+ years financial planning experience required
• Experience with closing asset management sales in a team environment required
• Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation required
• For individuals applying, assigned and/or hired to work in areas with pay transparency requirements, Commerce is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for some roles. This compensation range is for the Senior Financial Planner – Commerce Trust job and contemplates a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to location, skill sets, education, relevant experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable differentials (geographic, bilingual, or shift) that could be associated with the position or where it is filled. At Commerce, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $116,500 to $139,000 annually. This position will be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
