Job Description
Masdar is seeking a Senior Expert in Electrical & HV to lead technical and economic aspects of Clean Energy projects in Abu Dhabi. Responsibilities include managing electrical engineering teams, designing high voltage solutions, conducting project screenings, and preparing tender documents. The role requires collaboration with contractors and stakeholders to ensure project specifications and compliance with international standards. This position is based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and is not remote.

Job Description
Purpose of this job:
To lead grid related and other electrical, technical and techno-economic issues of Masdar’s Clean Energy (CE) projects including preparing and agreeing project specifications, budgets and timescales with contractors, clients or other stakeholders related to any renewable energy technology.
Responsibilities:
• Deliver technical support on various grid related matters such as grid connection and basic electrical design of renewable energy plants.
• Manage project activities within the electrical engineering team for CE projects.
• Design the most cost optimized solution for High Voltage stream for various renewable transactions.
• Develop accurate and effective screening methodology for projects, which are in the DD phase and perform detailed project screening.
• Perform general design review, verify component sizing and calculations and check design proposals
Performing design work on projects during development phase:
• Conduct the preliminary and concept electrical HV interfacing design work such as substations, overhead transmission lines, MV & EHV Cables, SCADA, DCS, Remote End Modifications and for other technical or electrical components of PV, CSP, Wind, BESS, Waste-to-Energy Projects.
• Liaise with supervisory personnel, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems in regard to the development of detailed designs for various assigned CE projects
• Deliver extensive support to Project Delivery team for Project planning, Scheduling, Monitoring, Control and Resources Management for Electrical scope in Renewable and Waste-to-Energy projects of various nature.
Preparation of electrical related chapters in Request for Proposal (RfP) and tender documents:
• Prepare and defining the technical requirements for RfP/tender documents for both Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractors, Owners, Engineer and Project Management Consultants.
• Demonstrate thorough familiarity in international design, codes and standards, procurement, construction
• Take to lead in the evaluation relating to technical aspects (electrical / technology) to the agreed Masdar standards and general codes of practice for received bids from Vendors
• Develop technical evaluation matrix defining the selection criteria of technical consultants
• Manage EPC contract activities relating to various electrical aspects such as cabling, substations, transformers, switch yards, over headline and overall grid connections, Substation Control & Monitoring System (SCMS), DCS System, Remote End Modification etc.
• Ensure clear incorporation and definition of all electrical requirements in the contracts with the relevant contractors for the HV electrical operation of any renewable energy projects of Masdar CE
Contracting and supervision of electrical consultants for power projects:
• Review technical design of drawings and documents during implementation phase.
• Prepare scope of work, Hazardous Area Classification, technical evaluation, and execution for major maintenance (MM) activities
• Ensure effective communication with technical advisors, maintaining a cost-effective attitude and in compliance with Masdar’s operating procedures
• Build and maintain a network of relevant contacts to support daily activities and long-term objectives of the team.
• Engage with and monitor relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure adequate knowledge transfer and completion of services as per agreed parameters.
• Apply consistent approaches/discipline and standardized forms in line with relevant policies, processes and procedures.
• Prepare relevant reports and updates as required and to the desired standard.
• Provide management information as and when required by the line manager, this includes the production and timely provision of accurate reports in line with reporting schedules. Compliance with information security policies, procedures and requirements at all times
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or any other related field
• Master’s Degree in Engineering is an asset
• Chartered Engineer status e.g. (e.g. IET, EUR Ing, PEng) is desirable
Preferred Experience:
• 6 years of engineering experience within the renewable energy sector specifically in solar and wind power plants or equivalent experience
• 10 years of engineering experience within Utility, Oil & Gas, Consultancy and Manufacturing Industries or equivalent experience
• Experience with grid integration of Conventional (Coal Thermal Power Plant) / Oil & Gas Industry (ADNOC) / (Renewable) energy plants
Experienced in ETAP, Dig Silent, Auto-CAD, Primavera
