JJ's Waste & Recycling is seeking a Senior ER/IR Specialist for a national role based in Brisbane, QLD, Australia. ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Employee / Industrial Relations Specialist you will work in our People/Legal team.

You will provide guidance and advice to our business and depot leaders around employment-related matters, in a legally compliant manner that aligns with company policy.

This role offers a large amount of variety and autonomy. With the flexibility to choose the hours that match your availability and our business operations; plus work from home or one of our offices in Brisbane or Sydney.

With a key focus on support and consultation; you will be instrumental in driving compliance, mitigating risk, and providing practical, solution-driven advice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• ER/IR support on a day to day basis - phone, email and Teams meetings
• Review internal and external communications via shared inbox
• Establish and manage relationships with depot and business leaders
• Mentor and support the business with HR/ER & IR enquiries
• Offer guidance and ensure compliance in relation to laws, regulations and requirements; including OH&S - with an understanding of return to work process
• Identify enhancement opportunities and suggest solutions for improvement
• Interpret and advise on broader compliance with the Fair Work Act, Workers Compensation Legislation (Nation-wide) and Modern Awards
• Drafting bespoke employment contracts and update company policies
• Provide ad-hoc employee-related support to the wider team

ABOUT YOU
• Proven experience in Employment / Industrial Relations Advisory and/or Employment Law roles
• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Human Resources, Law, or a related field
• Strong comprehension of employment legislation, industrial instruments, and relevant compliance requirements across Australia and New Zealand
• Ability to provide clear and commercially focused advice to all levels of management
• Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organisational skills
• Proactive, self-motivated approach, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to manage documentation effectively
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence outcomes
• Experience in transport, logistics, or a service-based industry is highly desirable
