Description

HELIX Environmental Planning, Inc. (HELIX), a California-based environmental consulting and planning firm, is seeking a team-orientated and motivated Senior Environmental Project Manager with critical thinking skills and a strong work ethic, to join our Northern California team. HELIX provides CEQA/NEPA, air quality and greenhouse gas, noise and vibration, biological resource, cultural resource management, habitat restoration, regulatory permitting, environmental compliance monitoring, and GIS services to both the public and private sectors. This position will report to our Northern California Environmental Planning Group Manager based out of our Folsom Office, but a remote position may be considered if the successful candidate is based locally in the Central Valley.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the preparation and processing of CEQA compliance documents and related technical studies as well as client expectations, project schedules, and budget. Duties include document preparation; coordination with other environmental planning staff, in-house technical specialists, and subconsultants; budget and invoice management; as well as interaction with clients and reviewing agencies (county, city, CDFW, RWQCB, USACE). Proposal preparation and business development are also required, and the successful candidate must possess the experience, communication skills, and interest for these activities. The ideal Senior Environmental Project Manager candidate must also possess strong Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) and interpersonal skills along with the proven ability to build collaborative relationships among team members, other HELIX staff, clients, subconsultants, and agencies.

Pay will be based on qualifications and/or experience, with a robust benefits package. Expected starting pay range of $115,000 to $150,000 annually.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements for Senior Environmental Project Manager
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in environmental studies, environmental science, environmental engineering, public planning, or a related field.
• Minimum eight years of experience in the preparation of CEQA compliance documents, including at least four years of experience in the preparation of proposals, a proven track record of business development, and management of CEQA compliance projects.
• Experience in leading proposals and business pursuits and marketing of environmental consulting services.
• Existing client relationships.
• Excellent writing, verbal communication, analytical, and presentation skills.
• Strong attention to detail, including strong spelling, proofreading, and organizational skills.
• Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Additional Skills Considered a Plus
• Master’s or PhD degree (or equivalent) in environmental studies, environmental science, geography, natural science, environmental engineering, public planning, business, or a related field.
• Experience with a variety of infrastructure and development project types, CEQA document types, and private sector/public agency clients is desirable.
• Extensive work experience within Central and Northern California.
