Position Summary

McCormick Taylor has an immediate opening for a Senior Environmental Planner to join our growing Environmental Services and Planning Groups in Maryland or Virginia. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative team environment. We are seeking an individual who can handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work well in a hybrid remote office environment. Strong written, interpersonal and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to organize is required. This position may require occasional region travel to project locations and/or client offices.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities
• Manage/complete environmental study and documentation tasks for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Section 4(f) of the U.S. Department of Transportation Act of 1966, and other state and federal environmental regulations
• Provide background research and apply NEPA expertise to Planning and Environmental Linkage (PEL) studies
• Perform socioeconomic and environmental justice impact analysis
• Act as a liaison with design disciplines as well as regulatory and resource agencies
• Represent the organization in communication and conferences pertaining to specific aspects of projects or programs
• Assist with marketing and preparation of proposals, as well as provide scope and hour estimates
• Provide QC reviews on technical accuracy of work

Qualifications
• 10-15+ years of experience in transportation project delivery and familiar with NEPA, Section 4(f), Section 106, Section 6(f), and environmental justice
• Degree: BS Required in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Planning, or a related field; MS degree is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite
• Working knowledge of FHWA and/or FTA, MDOT (SHA, MDTA, and/or MTA), and/or VDOT environmental regulations, policies, and procedures
• Possess well-established client relationships and continue to identify and recruit new ones, leading to procurement of work
• Strong communications and technical writing skills
• Ability to work both independently as well as in multi-disciplinary teams
