Hillphoenix is hiring a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Specialist in Los Angeles, CA. About the position
Dover Food Retail (DFR) is seeking a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join our team in Sylmar, CA. This role is pivotal in promoting a safety culture and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety laws. The Senior Environmental Health & Safety Specialist will work closely with the Safety Manager to coordinate and monitor programs that meet or exceed company and regulatory requirements for employee health and safety. This position will provide support to the Hillphoenix - Richmond operations, ensuring that safety policies and procedures are effectively implemented across the organization. In this role, you will be responsible for influencing leadership teams and stakeholders to ensure the consistent implementation of Health and Safety policies and programs. You will conduct audits of sites for compliance with Health & Safety programs and processes, lead the analysis of accident and injury data to identify the need for new or modified occupational safety programs, and perform periodic safety inspections of all worksites to identify and correct unsafe conditions and unsafe acts. Additionally, you will conduct safety orientations for employees and subcontractors, serve as a technical resource for day-to-day operations, and monitor safe practices and personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance. Your responsibilities will also include conducting site audits to ensure compliance with the organization's safety programs, evaluating hazardous conditions and unsafe acts, and making necessary adjustments to improve the safety of the work environment. You will deliver and track the completion of annual training requirements, lead Safety and Improvement Committees, and proactively identify and resolve potential safety issues that could lead to injuries. This role requires a strong commitment to fostering a safe work environment and ensuring that all employees are equipped with the knowledge and resources to work safely.
Responsibilities
• Ensure effective, consistent implementation of Health and Safety policies and programs by influencing leadership teams and other stakeholders.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety or equivalent level of experience.

• 3+ years of experience in an Environmental, Health and Safety role.
Nice-to-haves
• Previous experience working with safety programs in a manufacturing environment preferred.

• Proficient in OSHA and EPA regulations.

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.

• Behavior Based Safety experience.

• Strong project management skills.
