Job Description
The Met Office is hiring a Senior Environmental Analyst for a full-time role in the UK, focusing on environmental analysis for government and defense. The position allows for hybrid working, combining office and remote work. Key responsibilities include producing meteorological products, developing expertise for crisis response, and communicating with stakeholders. Applicants must be UK nationals with security clearance. The salary package is up to £58,419 annually.
We're looking for a Senior Environmental Analyst to help us make a difference to our planet.
As our Senior Environmental Analyst, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Your world of expertise
The Met Office National Security Advice Group (NSAG) delivers meteorological and environmental analysis and assessment to UK Government including the MOD as part of a Cross-Government approach to National Security.
You will support and contribute to the delivery of operational services to meet Government and Defence customer requirements on all environmental themes and topics. In this post, you'll be responsible for conducting intelligence analysis and providing requirement driven assessments, which will provide the 'so what' of climate, environment, food, water and energy impacts for UK.
You will be required to travel for work within the UK and potentially internationally.
Your key duties:
• Produce bespoke meteorological and environmental products based on all source analysis, that delivers impact for National Security.
• Develop subject matter expertise to contribute to early warning and crisis response.
• Work with partners and customers to communicate outcomes of assessments and products to internal and external stakeholders which will assist them to make balanced decisions.
• Security Clearances: To apply you must be a UK National and have a minimum of full Security Clearance (SC). It is desirable that applicants have Developed Vetting (DV), however if not, the successful applicant must successfully complete the Developed Vetting process within 12 months.

As our Senior Environmental Analyst, your total reward package will be up to £58,419 annually, which includes:
• £41,725 base pay
• An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%
• Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave
Essential Criteria, skills and experience:
1. We're experts by nature: You are either, an experienced PHIA trained analyst supporting UK national interests, with a strong background in physical/environmental sciences. Or, a qualified Meteorologist, with extensive experience or recently working in an operational environment.
2. We keep evolving: Demonstrate a strong capability to problem solve with an organised and structured approach to work which ensures customers' expectations on quality and timeliness are met.
3. We keep evolving: Demonstrate ability to grasp fresh concepts and implement efficient, effective solutions in a timely manner.
4. We live and breathe it: Evidence of your ability to build strong working relationships with customers or suppliers and respond professionally to enquiries to ensure a high level of service delivery.
5. We're better together: The ability to participate in a team environment but also able to work independently on allocated tasks, but always with a focus of delivering team and customer objectives.
6. We live and breathe it: Evidence of distilling and communicating complex technical information and making it relevant to your audience.
