CLEAResult is seeking a Senior Energy Engineer (Energy Engineer III) in Indianapolis, IN. The role involves developing and delivering energy efficiency programs, conducting energy calculations, simulations, and providing technical design support. Candidates should have a BS in Engineering, 5-10+ years of experience, and expertise in energy efficiency measures. This hybrid position requires 2 days in the office and candidates must be local to the Greater Indianapolis Area.

To join our team as an Energy Engineer III. The Energy Engineer III will support the development and delivery of energy efficiency programs by providing engineering calculations, building energy simulations, measurement and verification, and utility program technical design and assistance. Leads design and development of technical strategies, conducts analysis to inform and recommend energy savings, and develops plans and provides reporting that contributes to the success of client programs. Writes and informs technical documents, publications, and conducts quality review of content. Provides general project oversight, quality control/assurance, and continuously informs customers and project team of updates and necessary adjustments.
This is a hybrid role requiring 2 days in office/site visits. Candidates must be based in the Greater Indianapolis Area to be considered.

• Calculate energy savings for projects in our programs using standard engineering principles including physics, mechanics, fan laws, thermodynamics, algebra, and statistics.
• Lead important and complex technical work in our programs, independently and with minimal technical supervision.
• Identify, lead, and qualify custom/M&V projects in our programs
• Oversee the development of calculators and measure configurations within central database.
• Perform ASHRAE level II audits unassisted at large commercial and industrial facilities; author IPMVP compliant plans and reports - Established and trusted technical advisor to multiple large-scale programs.
• Provide technical guidance and training to our program teams related to subject matter expertise (esp. custom/M&V projects).
• Subject matter expert in at least two significant technical areas - Author work papers for new energy efficiency measures, with technical oversight.
• Oversee technical feedback related to filings, utility commission documents, and program evaluations; provide formal recommendations to program staff.
• Develop project scopes, with oversight from engineering management.
• Works with clients and evaluators on project-specific issues.
In this exciting career opportunity, you will have…
• BS Engineering degree or graduate degree.
• 5-10+ years experience.
• Professional Engineering degree preferred, other industry specific certifications welcome.
• Subject Matter Expert in at least 1 engineering technology.
• Able to lead others in complex technical work in our programs (white papers, introduction of new EE measures, development of tools and calculators)
• Competent developing and implementing IPMVP compliant plans for projects.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with all stakeholders (internal engineers, program team members, outreach specialists, trade allies, utility clients, customers, and evaluators). Competent presentation skills.
• Manage projects (both personal and others that you are leading) to successful completion - on time and under budget.
• Competent with building and energy code requirements.
• Experience with state technical resource manuals
• Enhanced Excel Skills with VBA competence
• Experienced with energy Modeling software - eQuest, EnergyPlus, Trane Trace, NEO
This is a safety-sensitive position and may include field work (such as work in industrial/commercial locations and customer homes), warehouse work, or requires driving on behalf of the company. Individuals provided a conditional offer of employment for this position must successfully pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test and consent to the company obtaining a motor vehicle report evidencing a satisfactory driving record.
