Our client, a non-profit focused on the development of the green economy, is looking for someone with 3+ years of experience in the utility-scale renewable energy industry that can identify, understand, and access the viability of projects within this space. An embedded knowledge of South African Energy policy would put you a cut above the rest, and a network of private and government funders would earn you a gold star. Energy modelling experience will earn you two.

Our ideal candidate can pull a master's degree in engineering, economics, finance, resource management, or environmental science out of their back pocket.

Education Requirements
• Master’s qualification in the field of finance, economics, engineering, resource management, or environmental science preferable

Experience Requirements
• Experience in identifying, and quantifying the viability and size of Utility-scale renewable energy projects

Responsibilities

In this role, you would conduct market research and collect data, analysing it for targeted dissemination while maintaining meticulous data management. You would develop relationships to access data resources and produce Market Intelligence Reports. Your responsibilities would include promoting the Utility-Scale Renewable Energy sector to attract international investment and create local jobs, requiring effective report writing and both quantitative and qualitative data collection.

Networking within the industry is crucial, as is understanding the Utility-Scale Renewable Energy market and analysing market opportunities. You would also need to understand Utility-Scale Renewable Energy policy in South Africa and explore future opportunities such as Green Hydrogen.

Additionally, you would support Utility-Scale Renewable Energy projects as a sector expert and work to increase the resource efficiency of businesses and governments in the Western Cape and South Africa. Engaging stakeholders on interventions to grow the sector and developing viable business cases for investment in Utility-Scale Renewable Energy, including Green Hydrogen, would be key aspects of your role.
