EQ Building Performance Inc. is hiring a Senior Energy Analyst in Vaughan, ON. The role involves developing and analyzing energy models for sustainable building projects, preparing reports, and collaborating with consultants. Candidates should have 4-6 years of experience in energy simulation, a relevant degree, and familiarity with energy tools. The position allows for hybrid or remote work, with potential travel to project sites.
ROLE

EQ is seeking a Senior Energy Analyst to join our GTA-based team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with some of the country’s most innovative and sustainable building projects.

EQ is a collaborative consulting firm. Our mission is to guide the creation of responsible buildings. We are a leading GTA provider of commissioning, building performance simulation, and green building certification services focused on the multi-unit residential and mixed-use building market.

The Senior Energy Analyst is primarily responsible for the development and analysis of whole building energy models and other types of energy analyses as required. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, and someone who is curious, asks lots of questions, and is eager to learn all they can about high performance buildings in Canada.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.
• Develop whole building energy simulations of new construction projects for the purpose of design optimization, rating system compliance, energy code compliance, energy budgeting, and procurement of energy efficiency incentives.
• Prepare and review high quality client-facing energy modeling reports and present results to clients.
• Attend project coordination meetings and liaise with building consultant teams (mechanical and electrical engineers, architects, developers, building owners) to obtain information needed to complete tasks.
• Conduct technical analysis and feasibility studies in support of energy efficiency and renewable technologies.
• Perform internal quality compliance review of deliverables.
• Support integrated design workshops to evaluate building improvements in real time.
• Analyze post construction energy consumption data and compare to models.
• Any and all other duties as assigned to meet Company objectives.

REQUIREMENTS
• 4 to 6 years experience in building energy simulation in a consulting capacity. Individuals with less experience are also encouraged to apply, and will be considered for less senior role based on their merits.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, architecture / building science, or a closely related field.
• Pursuing professional designation such as P.Eng or CET. Actively pursuing or interest in pursing BEMP considered an asset.
• LEED GA accreditation is considered an asset (LEED AP BD+C preferred)
• Experience with energy simulation tools, particularly Energy Plus / Open Studio and eQuest. Experience with energy audits and Retscreen software considered an asset.
• Familiarity with reviewing construction drawings and specifications. AutoCAD and Revit experience considered an asset.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Sound problem solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• Able to manage deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
• Valid driver’s license and car required for travel within the GTA.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Role is hybrid or remote.
• Travel to project sites and client offices may be required (primarily within the GTA).
• Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
• Overtime as required.
• Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required.
