Job Description

The Sustainable Partnership is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in Durham, NC, to oversee the electrical design of utility-scale solar and BESS projects. Responsibilities include managing the design phases, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring high-quality project execution. Candidates should have a relevant engineering degree and at least 6 years of experience. The position offers a salary between $140K and $180K per year and is a full-time role.
The Sustainable Partnership is partnered with a marketing leading utility scale solar & BESS developer/IPP.

We are working alongside a top US developer who are expanding their electrical/development engineering team. The firm own & operate over 4GW of solar and BESS projects with another 14GW currently in the pipeline. They have been voted as one of the top employers in their state in terms of company culture.

The business is looking to add an experienced electrical engineer to the team. You would be focused on overseeing full electrical scope from as early as site feasibility through to IFC. You would be contributing to some of the most important energy infrastructure projects in the USA and managing junior engineers & external consultants to ensure that the electrical engineering design phase completed to the highest standard.

Because this firm own & operate around 60% of their projects for the entire life span, quality is paramount. You would be joining an extremely high performing team, and you would get to see your projects built & start to generate clean energy.

Key Responsibilities
• Oversee & manage the electrical design & development phases of utility scale solar & BESS projects
• Develop electrical studies and calculations using ETAP
• Review the work of junior engineers & redline/edit where required.
• Be a mentor to junior engineers, helping them overcome technical engineering challenges
• Act as a project engineer, helping to take these utility scale projects from site feasibility through to commissioning.

Requirements
• Undergraduate qualification in Engineering or equivalent
• 6+ years’ experience in large civil engineering projects
• Proficiency with AutoCAD
• Ability to perform electrical studies using ETAP software
• Large scale renewables experience in desired but not required. If you have worked on traditional energy systems, substations, transmission systems or commercial/DG renewables projects, lets talk.
