GSG Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Senior Ecologist/Wetland Scientist in Schaumburg, IL. The role involves project management, environmental reviews, wetland delineations, and compliance inspections. Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced environmental professional with a wetland ecology and natural resource management background. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Project management, technical leadership, and business development
• Desktop environmental reviews
• Field wetland delineations
• Preparing wetland mitigation plans and conducting annual wetland mitigation monitoring
• Performing threatened and endangered plant surveys
• Research and preparation of environmental assessments and other permitting documents
• Other technical duties may include regulatory agency and client interactions, construction monitoring, and post-construction compliance inspections.
Required Qualifications:
• B.S. in Botany, Soil Science, Plant Ecology, or similar discipline
• Certified Professional Wetland Scientist
• 8-10 years of experience conducting wetland delineations, demonstrated Section 404 permitting experience, and wetland mitigation
• Strong working knowledge of wetlands and aquatic resources of the Midwest, with an emphasis on northeastern Illinois, southeast Wisconsin, and northwest Indiana
• Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and produce high-quality work under tight deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience and knowledge of biological field surveys
Preferred Qualifications:
• M.S. in Botany, Soil Science, Plant Ecology, or similar discipline
• Knowledge of fish and aquatic macroinvertebrate populations and aquatic habitats
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
