Position Summary:

The Senior EHS Program Manager – Construction works directly with Construction Managers and Superintendents within the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) group, reporting to the EHS Director. This role partners with customers at utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction projects to ensure client EHS requirements are fully met and to help prevent onsite incidents. The position is responsible for EHS program implementation, hazard and risk assessment, incident investigation, training and toolbox talks, and ensuring regulatory compliance (OSHA/EPA/DOT/state) while driving a zero-injury program across multiple construction sites. The Senior EHS Program Manager also manages project site EHS Specialists in the execution of their duties.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of on-site Construction Safety Specialists across multiple energy storage projects in the U.S.Coordinate site-specific safety plan requirements with customers, project GCs, and self-perform teams and ensure plan is executed at the site levelDevelop EHS improvement strategies, including injury reduction, fatality prevention, and safety cultureEnsure site audits, inspections, and engagement activities align with the project EHS programIdentify project safety equipment needs and ensure availability before kickoffAssist site teams with incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implementedEnsure all project personnel have the requisite safety training pertinent to their scope of work, and notify management of any non-compliant safety procedures, participating in corrective action discussions to resolve issues in a timely mannerEvaluate subcontractors and subcontractor safety programs, recommend improvements based on trend analysis, act as an advocate for Redwood by promoting company culture and policies, and present the progress of the project safety program to leadership as directed

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

3–5 years of construction EHS experience required.Associate's degree in construction safety management or a related field and two years of construction safety management experience, or CHST certification (or equivalent) and four years of construction safety management experienceExperience in utility-scale solar or battery energy storage construction EHS is strongly preferredStrong knowledge of construction site equipment, methods, and processesAbility to understand, interpret, and apply applicable regulatory requirements (Federal and State OSHA, EPA, etc.) to the project scope of workExcellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of staff, including owners and clientsAbility to lead, influence, and coordinate own and others' actions; strong multitasking, organization, and time-management skillsOSHA 30 certification obtained within the last 5 yearsAbility to identify onsite project safety risks and recommend mitigation within safety and project program requirementsAbility to travel up to 30% of the time, with occasional nights and weekends as requiredAbility to take on special tasks or projects with limited direction and oversightA passion for sustainability and making the world a better place
