This role involves advising on commercial transactions, supporting operations, and collaborating with global teams. The position is based in Melbourne, Australia, but other locations in Southeast Asia will be considered, indicating flexibility for remote work.

SUMMARY OF ROLE

Maxeon is seeking a Commercial Counsel to join Maxeon’s Legal Department and to be responsible leading all regional customer-facing activities for the company in Oceania and Asia. This is a truly unique opportunity to be lead regional counsel at a high-profile NASDAQ-listed solar company involved in some of the most significant renewables projects in the region. This role will interface regularly with Maxeon’s executive leadership team, providing excellent legal advice and counsel on a broad range of critical business initiatives. The position is based at our office in Melbourne, Australia. However, consideration will be given to other locations in SE Asia.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
• Lead Maxeon’s commercial transactions efforts in the region in support of the sales and marketing organization, including revenue contracts, business development, strategy, distribution programs, dealer programs and marketing
• Apply practical experience to help shape business and legal terms, deal structures and transaction processes for Maxeon in the region
• Support the operations team on after-sales activities related to customer support and warranty claims
• Advise Maxeon’s executive team on key renewables and solar policy matters in the region
• Provide advice and counsel to business team leaders, in consultation with external counsel as necessary, with respect to disputes, tax, import, litigation, and local labor issues
• Lead the Legal Department’s activities on, and manage outside counsel with respect to, all legal matters that arise in the region
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Maxeon counsel around the globe to ensure agreements are consistent with internal policies, practices and processes
• Develop, maintain and continuously refine forms, playbooks, trainings, policies, processes, procedures, and other tools important to the efficient and effective support for the business
• Develop and implement training programs for the sales, marketing and operations organizations on agreement forms, playbooks, provisions, negotiation best practices and tactics, recent legal trends, and other relevant legal and sales enablement issues
• Collaborate with Maxeon counsel across the globe to create and continuously refine best-in-class customer-facing technical and quality testing programs in concert with Maxeon’s industry-leading engineering and product support teams

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Qualified to practice law in Australia, Singapore, and/or the United Kingdom, additional consideration given to United States state bar qualifications
• Education from top tier universities with exceptional academic credentials
• 5+ years of relevant experience, including training at a leading law firm in commercial transactions and/or renewable energy projects, experience in-house a plus
• Strong experience in the energy industry, preferably in solar renewables
• Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills
• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and to engage effectively with all levels of employees and management, balancing multiple client demands
• Have excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Be detail-oriented, organized, efficient and resourceful with strong follow-through skills, with a passion for results
• Be highly analytical and have exceptional business and legal issue identification and problem-solving skills
• Have impeccable professional ethics, integrity and judgment, naturally adhering to Maxeon’s value of Holding Ourselves to a Higher Standard
• Entrepreneurial, curious, with exceptional strategic and problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding, and sometimes unstructured environment
• Have a strong desire to learn the business and new areas of law and to function integrally as part of an interdisciplinary team
