This position offers a unique opportunity to ensure compliance with increasingly complex climate-related disclosure requirements, as well as supporting both the business and its customers in reducing their emissions. This 12-month Max-term position offers significant influence in shaping the company’s sustainability journey, There is the potential for extension into a permanent, full-time role. The position can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane offering a hybrid working environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Lead the development of climate-related disclosures, including inputs into the Annual Report and Sustainability Report, that are compliant with emerging climate reporting standards, across Australia and New Zealand.
• Perform scenario analysis to determine the quantum of Downer’s exposure to climate-related risks and opportunities to inform business strategy.
• Develop Downer’s Climate Transition Plan in alignment with the latest standards and guidance.
• Lead carbon accounting and emissions analysis, ensuring data integrity and alignment with frameworks that Downer reports against, such as NGERs and the GHG Protocol.
• Support the development and implementation of decarbonisation initiatives, working with business unit stakeholders to drive emissions reductions.

What You Will Bring
• Relevant Tertiary Education (in a Sustainability or Business-related discipline)
• 3 to 5+ years experience in either a consulting or an industry role, with exposure to climate-related reporting.
• Deep understanding of ESG/Sustainability issues and relevant tools and frameworks with expertise in at least one core area (e.g. CSA, CDP, ESG Indices, emerging climate and reporting standards, particularly in Australia and New Zealand).
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and standards/protocols - Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, regulations and standards/protocols in technical areas. (e.g., NGER, Modern Slavery, ASX Principles, GHG Protocol, ISSB, NZ CRD, ASRS, GRI).
• Understand financial context, how actions and commercial priorities influence sustainability performance and support development of business cases for funding as appropriate.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present novel and complex ideas to a wide range of stakeholders
• Comfortable with dealing with ambiguity and change, with an ability to dynamically assess impacts on priorities
