Job Description

ADAS is seeking a Senior Climate and Sustainability consultant in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, with expertise in climate change mitigation, GHG emissions measurement, and water stewardship. The role involves business development, project management, and delivering high-quality client projects. Candidates should have a relevant degree and experience in consultancy or policy. Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills are essential. The position focuses on sustainability challenges in agriculture.
We are seeking an individual with relevant years' experience working in consultancy with expertise in climate change mitigation, measurement of GHG emissions or water stewardship, and a good foundation in UK agricultural production practices.

Our Clients

Our clients range from input providers, through farmers to food and drink manufacturers and the retail sector, and we also work with Government and the public sector bodies providing a wide range of solutions. We work across arable, horticultural and livestock sectors, as well as venturing into other land use areas.
Key Areas of Focus
• Reducing climate impact (supporting a move towards Net Zero)
• Building resilience to climate change (assessing climate risk and developing adaptation strategies)
• Understanding sustainable water use
• Exploring alternative novel proteins
• Assessing the environmental and social impacts of changing crop production practices on European agriculture
Role Overview

This role will specifically aim to support the growth of our climate and/or water offers. There will be opportunities for taking responsibility for elements of business development.
Key Responsibilities
Sales

Leading development of sales and business in areas of expertise (particularly water or climate change mitigation)
• Senior consultants are expected to generate and follow up on sales leads
• Creation of bespoke approaches to meet client needs
Delivery

Project manage and lead high-quality delivery of client projects through clear data analysis and written outputs, alongside the provision of technical input into climate impact and resilience projects.
• Activities may include:
• Assessment of GHG emissions from agricultural raw materials
• Knowledge and understanding of the GHG Protocol standards' requirements for emissions assessment
• Creation of bespoke emissions calculators
• Supporting on a range of other projects across the agriculture sector
Marketing

Drafting of news articles for the website, attending events and conferences, preparing content for other promotional materials.

Senior consultants are expected to be prepared to speak at events and webinars.
Person Specification
Education

BSc qualification in a relevant or related discipline (agriculture, biology, geography), or demonstration of equivalent experience.
Experience

Relevant years' experience post university, working in a consultancy, industry, or policy environment.
Skills and Attributes
• Approach: take a rigorous approach and attention to detail in both quantitative and qualitative research and analysis
• Writing: demonstrate strong writing skills and the ability to present messages in a clear and concise way to a range of different audiences
• Data analysis: demonstrate strong quantitative/mathematical and Excel skills
• Modelling: Expertise in manipulating complex data sets using one or more programming languages
• Communication: act professionally in front of a range of audiences
• Project management: be organised and lead complex projects to tight deadlines
• Contract management: ensure contracts are managed on time and to budget
