Our client, a renowned architectural firm, is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Architect with a specialization in Sustainable Design to join their practice in Chicago, Illinois, US . This role will play a key part in leading the design of innovative and environmentally responsible buildings. You will be responsible for conceptualizing designs, developing detailed architectural plans, and guiding projects through all phases from schematic design to construction administration, with a strong emphasis on sustainable principles and certifications (e.g., LEED, WELL). This is a hybrid role, combining in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the architectural design process for a variety of building typologies, focusing on sustainable and high-performance solutions. Develop conceptual designs, master plans, and detailed architectural drawings using Revit and other relevant software. Integrate sustainable design strategies, including energy efficiency, material selection, water conservation, and passive design principles. Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and accessibility standards. Collaborate closely with clients, consultants, engineers, and contractors throughout the design and construction process. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within financial parameters. Prepare presentations and lead client meetings to communicate design concepts and progress. Conduct site analysis and feasibility studies. Oversee construction administration, responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and conducting site visits. Mentor junior architects and design staff, fostering a culture of design excellence and sustainability. Stay abreast of current trends, technologies, and research in sustainable architecture and green building practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution. Professional Architect license (RA) required. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in architectural design and project management. Demonstrated expertise in sustainable design principles and LEED accreditation (or equivalent) is essential. Proficiency in architectural design software, including Revit, AutoCAD, and visualization tools (e.g., 3ds Max, Lumion). Strong understanding of building systems, construction methods, and materials. Excellent design, visualization, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate design intent effectively. Proven ability to manage projects, lead teams, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Experience in a hybrid work environment is beneficial.
