Senior Applications Engineer

Adon Renewables, a Hawaii-based renewable energy developer, is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to design and develop specialized software applications. Candidates should have a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, along with five years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include collaborating with clients, designing software specifications, coding, testing, and modifying applications. Job Summary:

The Senior Applications Engineer will plan and create specialized software applications.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Collaborates with clients and colleagues to understand product operations;
• Designs specs to meet operation needs;
• Assesses feasibility of design and project parameters within time and cost constraints;
• Analyzes operations and designs software for user interface;
• Develops code and designs software applications based on user specifications;
• Modifies existing software to correct errors or improve performance;
• Monitors and assists with software testing and validation procedures and programming;
• Monitors and assists software installation; ensures applications meet specifications;
• Gathers and evaluates user feedback and modifies software for better usability;
• Designs databases for specific applications;
• Determines system performance standards and hardware configurations based on client specifications, budget, security needs and other parameters;
• Collaborates with clients, vendors and colleagues to design systems to support applications.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Extensive knowledge of coding languages and systems.
• Ability to learn new coding languages and technologies.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience:
• Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Five years of experience working as a software developer, programmer or engineer.

Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds at times.
