Conditions of Employment:
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Must be registered or eligible for registration within 6 months of hire as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM)
• Must be able perform work in the field, travel to work sites within the province, which may require overnight stays or overtime
• Must be physically capable of performing the duties and functions of the job including working at outdoor work sites, in confined spaces and extreme heights, and carrying out physical activities such as standing, sitting, walking, climbing, twisting, slip-trip-fall, lifting and carrying (0-22 lbs). climbing, twisting, slip-trip-fall, lifting and carrying (0-22 lbs)

Qualifications:

Essential:
• Bachelor's degree in Biosystems/Agricultural Engineering (other engineering disciplines may be considered).
• Extensive experience in Biosystems Engineering including irrigation and drainage, soil physics and mechanics, agricultural land management, livestock environment and climate change and agri-energy.
• Knowledge and understanding of Canadian agricultural principles, practices, and technologies related to crop and livestock production, land and water management, and agricultural machinery optimization.
• Ability to identify issues, develop options to resolve/mitigate issues, and make recommendations for consideration by appropriate decision makers.
• Exceptional verbal communication skills including the ability to convey information, explain results and findings, and deliver presentations in clear language to a small or large audience.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, organizations, and other stakeholders.
• Must be able to prepare well-written, clear, and concise correspondence and technical reports containing a minimum of grammatical, spelling, and construction errors, and follow standard professional writing guidelines.
• Must have strong organizational and project management skills including the ability to work on several complex tasks simultaneously and prioritize workloads to meet strict deadlines.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong computer skills including the ability to learn and work with appropriate industry software tools and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, GIS, AutoCAD, and other equivalent software.

Desired:
• Master of Science in Engineering.

Duties:

The Senior Agri-Environment Engineer provides a wide range of scientifically based services related to increasing agriculture environmental sustainability of the ag sector by undertaking studies related to agriculture water management and livestock environment, determining soil and site suitability, leading climate change and agri-energy initiatives, and coordinating agricultural engineering projects for the department.
