Wolf Midstream is seeking a Senior Accountant for its Carbon Team in Calgary, AB. The role involves financial reporting, accounting tasks, cash management, and collaboration with various teams to support the Carbon business. Candidates should have a professional accounting designation, a degree in a related field, and 2-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in the midstream industry.

The Opportunity

Wolf Midstream is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Carbon Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a high energy individual to be integrally involved in the Wolf Carbon business. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Senior Accountant will report to the Wolf Carbon Director, Accounting and Finance, and will work closely with the Carbon leadership and business development teams as Wolf continues to grow in the energy transition space. The successful candidate’s duties will involve finance, treasury, and operations accounting. In addition, you will have input on data management, administration, business processes and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the monthly financial reporting process including month end close, monthly forecasts, financial accounting, preparing management reporting and variance analysis
• Responsible for various month end tasks including the preparation of accounting vouchers, monthly revenue invoice, accruals, bank reconciliations, GST filings, and intercompany reconciliations
• Prepare monthly cash forecasts while maintaining the cash ledger and managing the accounts payable process including payment runs
• Work with project controls team to ensure timely, accurate and effective reporting
• Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and income tax return
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports
• Prepare quarterly financial reporting workbooks including IFRS adjustments
• Liaise directly with external auditors for commercial, greenhouse gas emissions and annual financial audits
• Review business policies, practices, procedures, and internal controls to identify and mitigate risks
• Work closely with operations, supply chain, accounts payable, corporate finance and treasury teams to support the Carbon business
• Streamline processes and strive for continuous improvement

Qualifications and Experience

Education:
• Professional accounting designation
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, or related discipline

Experience:
• 2-3 years of related work experience, with preference given to candidates with midstream industry experience
• System implementation experience would be considered an asset
• Qbyte and Microsoft D365 experience is an asset
• Advanced excel user and strong general systems aptitude
• Progressive experience in accounting and finance departments where you supported full-cycle accounting

Skills:
• Ability to demonstrate accounting practices, procedures, and systems with a strong understanding of IFRS
• Critical thinking skills to support the development and implementation of key accounting and finance processes
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
• Must be a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a lean organization
• A self-starter who works collaboratively with team members
