Job Description
Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping seeks a Regulatory Affairs Specialist for a secondment role in West Virginia. The position involves driving regulatory change in the maritime industry, focusing on LCA and certification. Candidates should have a relevant degree and experience in sustainability criteria. The role is collaborative, requiring proactive engagement with stakeholders to support decarbonization efforts in shipping.

Your current home employer remains your employer during the period in which you perform your contribution to the Center.

OVERVIEW
This is a fantastic opportunity and you will be involved in work to drive regulatory change in the maritime industry.
We are modest in saying that transition will not happen without regulations.
You will join an amazing team with 10 people covering multiple topics of regulations: safety, energy efficiency, market-based measures, LCA, etc.
The team has people coming from all different backgrounds across the shipping value chain.

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Drive and support work in the Regulatory Affairs team related to LCA, Certification, and Sustainability Criteria.
• Keep an up-to-date knowledge database on LCA, and Certification (IMO, EU, etc).
• Lead work packages in ongoing projects.
• Write technical papers/submissions to IMO meetings (MEPC, ISWG) related to the topic.
• Participate in advocacy work related to the topic.
WHAT GOOD LOOKS LIKE
• The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the decarbonization of the shipping industry through engagement with stakeholders and the development of regulatory policies and standards.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to the energy transition in shipping, including IMO Regulations, GHG policies, national economic plans, EU regulations, and fuel certification mechanisms.
CONTENT KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES NEEDED
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in LCA, Certification, Sustainability Criteria, etc.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to the energy transition in shipping, including Understanding of the shipping industry required, but not mandatory.
• The key is exposure to LCA, certification, and sustainability criteria topics.
• Exposure to a similar role in the past is an asset but not mandatory.
