Seasonal Fisheries Technician

The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs are hiring Seasonal Fisheries Technicians in Prairie City, OR. The role involves assisting with native plant nursery tasks, field crew projects for habitat enhancement, and equipment maintenance. Applicants should be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in various weather conditions. No degree is required for this position, which includes both indoor and outdoor work.
Job Description

Nursery Crew Tech: Assisting native plant nursery staff with a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: care of plant stock (weeding, watering, fertilizing, transplanting), trimming and pruning of shrubs and trees, maintaining irrigation systems, weed control via hand pulling and herbicide application, grounds maintenance (mowing, edging, raking), seed collection, out-planting of native plants at restoration sites, and maintaining equipment (UTV’s, mowers, string trimmers, and water pumps).

Field Crew Tech: Works as part of a crew to implement projects on the Forrest, Oxbow and Dunstan Conservation properties, as well as project work for the John Day Watershed Restoration program on sites throughout the John Day River Basin. Work to Include habitat enhancement projects, installation of spring developments, juniper felling and hand piling, tree planting for up to three months per year, control of noxious weeds using herbicides and mowers, fence repair and building in addition to operating and maintaining shop and field equipment. Knowledge and experience of various fence building techniques, ATV/Skid steer/backhoe.

Requirements

Applicant will be expected to work while standing, sitting, kneeling, and frequent bending and lifting for long periods with reasonable accommodation. Applicant should be able to lift/move objects of up to 50 lbs. Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather. Some weather clothing will be provided dependent on task.
