Job Description

The National Park Service is hiring a Seasonal Administrative Support Assistant in Larned, KS. The role involves various administrative tasks such as managing calls, maintaining files, preparing reports, and handling payroll. This temporary position lasts up to 1039 hours and offers a salary of $19.33 per hour. Housing options are available nearby, but the job is not remote.
JOB SUMMARY: You will perform a wide variety of administrative support and clerical tasks in support of human resources, budget, acquisition and property management, and other administrative support services, and to perform staff support work in each of these areas. This is a Temporary appointment not-to-exceed 1039 hours. MAJOR DUTIES: Major duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Handle incoming calls and maintain office files. Use computers and appropriate software for data collection, analysis, collating and preparation of reports, forms and tabular material, providing proper spacing, heading and arrangement for ease of understanding and information processing. Prepare in final format from field notes or drafts, correspondence, including letters, memoranda, work schedules, and reports. Prepare and maintains budget documents, conducts micro purchases and records expenditures from purchase documents. Prepare and tracks payroll. Prepare and receives all incoming/outgoing mail and packages. Type 40 wpm. Fort Larned NHS is located six miles west of Larned, Kansas. Government housing is not available; however, houses and apartments are available to rent or to own in the nearby area. Public transportation is not available. Shopping, schools and a hospital are all available in town. This is a rural area, 2 ½ hours from Wichita. Elevation is 2,036 feet and the average rainfall is 23 inches. Summer temperatures sometimes exceed 100 degrees and winter temperatures of 20 degrees or lower are not uncommon.
