Seamsperson / Customer Service

Ventia is hiring a Seamsperson/Customer Service professional for a full-time role at RAAF Swartz Barracks in Oakey, QLD. Responsibilities include clothing alterations, repairs, and customer service. Ventia proudly provides clothing and personal equipment services to the Australian Defence Force, applying 30 years of expert knowledge to meet its unique functional needs. Specific service offerings include inventory management, issue and sale of Defence clothing items, combat uniforms, and equipment; specialist kitting activities for training, exercises, and operational requirements; standard and bespoke tailoring services; manufacture of name tags; court mounting of medals, miniatures, and ribbon bars.

We are seeking a reliable Seamstress/Customer Service professional for our dynamic team at RAAF Swartz Barracks in Oakey. This full-time role involves performing clothing alterations and repairs while ensuring excellent customer service.

What You’ll Do:

As a Seamsperson/Customer Service team member, you’ll be at the heart of our operations, where your love for sewing and helping others will shine. This role will work within our contract for the Australian Defence Force where you'll work under general supervision, either independently or as part of a team, to perform a range of tasks:
• Perform Seamsperson tasks including sewing rank badges, medals and insignias
• Perform basic clothing alterations such as hemming
• Perform tailoring measurements of customers
• Providing customer service and using POS– experience with EFTPOS, barcode scanners, and POS system is beneficial.
• Help clients & customers by assisting with outfitting and kitting of clothing
• Ensuring accurate work order records are kept
• General clothing stores duties including ensuring clothing store inventory records are accurate

What We’re Looking For:
• A passion for sewing and a desire to learn more
• Experience with hand stitching or sewing machines is a plus, but not mandatory
• A friendly, team-oriented attitude with strong customer service skills
• Basic computer skills, including experience with EFTPOS, barcode scanners, and POS systems
• Current licence and reliable transport (Required)
• Must be eligible to hold a Defence baseline security clearance. As a result of this requirement, the applicant must be an Australian Citizen.
