Position Description

MERIT is seeking a highly motivated, diligent individual for the position of SCADA Engineer III to grow our industry leading SCADA, Controls, and Cybersecurity platform for renewable energy including solar PV, Energy Storage and Wind.

Qualified candidates possess strong communication skills combined with technical knowledge to facilitate multiple project level phases. A well organized, agile individual that can operate with a degree of autonomy with overall guidance is desired.

This position will report to the Architect SCADA and Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
• Implement SCADA solution for assigned projects under the direction of the SCADA Architect
• Program and commission SCADA systems adhering to project specific timelines
• Develop new screens and features to meet project-specific requirements
• Interact with customers in a timely fashion for support on past projects and projects that are currently assigned to you
• Integrate the Merit SCADA/Controls Cloud based solution for customer specific projects
• Support established and future projects as needed
• Adhere to Merit’s technical standardization documentation
• Work closely with the SCADA Architect to deploy scalable and supportable SCADA systems
• Develop processes and standards to support more streamlined deployment of SCADA systems
• Troubleshoot SCADA and communications system issues
• Work with project management to report project status, risks, and mitigation measures
• Encourage creativity in developing new solutions
• Mentor SCADA Engineer I and II
• Good communications skills both oral and written
• Proven problem-solving skills

Full Time Position

Travel: up to 25%

Experience

Position Requirements:
• 5+ years of relevant technical or engineering experience (experience working within renewable energy including industrial or utility scale PV solar, BESS or Wind desired), or similar technical experience with data collection, databases, and programming & scripting
• Experience with SCADA platforms required, Inductive Automation Ignition a plus
• Understanding of industry standard Communications (Modbus, OPC-UA/DA, DNP-3)
• Experience with Python
• Basic understanding of networking, OT best practices, and cybersecurity standards
• Basic understanding of power systems
• Basic understanding and experience in controls engineering techniques and practices a plus
• Understanding of electrical one-line schematics a plus
• Experience with basic PV solar monitoring functions and designs a plus (technical experience in related fields will be considered)

• Degree in Engineering related field i.e. Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
• Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment

• Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds
