SCADA Engineer

Orsted North America Inc is seeking a SCADA Engineer in Austin, TX. The role involves configuring and maintaining SCADA systems for renewable assets, requiring up to 20% travel. Candidates should have at least 2 years of SCADA or PLC experience, strong IT knowledge, and familiarity with communication protocols. Responsibilities include system implementation, testing coordination, and collaboration with project teams. A degree in electrical/software engineering is preferred.
Join us in this role where you’ll take up the technical challenges of ensuring optimal operation by enabling control & monitoring of our renewable asset though a centralized SCADA System.

You’ll be part of Generation Management System team where you, together with your colleagues, will work on SCADA configuration, test, network setup and troubleshooting. You will also assist in daily operation maintenance of SCADA systems. This position requires up to 20% travel. Applicants should have at least 2 years’ experience with SCADA-or PLC configuration. As a team, we are responsible for setup of renewable assets, coordinate test, network setup, and troubleshooting. You will also be involved in site FAT, SAT, and system handover process between EPC and O&M.

You’ll play an important role in:
• implementation of SCADA configuration, displays, communication setup, functionality for US GMS system(Central SCADA) with our sites and external suppliers
• coordination with project managers to perform and document the site test with external system
• cooperation with network engineers in terms of troubleshooting and testing
• management and implementation system patches and upgrades
• Collaboration with O&M team to support maintenance activities with the US Control Center.

To succeed in the role, you:
• have a good SCADA/IT knowledge, possibly acquired through a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical/software engineering, or similar engineering knowledge
• have experience with SCADA systems and electrical transmission manufacturers
• have experience with failure investigation on SCADA communication, and ideally have good network knowledge
• have basic understanding with network devices and TCP/IP
• preferably have communication protocol knowledge of OPC, DNP3.0, IEC, and Modbus
• preferably have experience with site commissioning and interface test.
