Job Summary

The Safety Technician is responsible for providing comprehensive safety program support to laboratory functions, with a focus on managing hazard risks, hazardous materials and waste, and environmental stewardship. This role interacts with leadership, research staff, support departments, and vendors to cultivate a continued and effective safety program.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provides support for the hazardous materials and chemical hygiene program needs.
• Performs risk assessments, analyzes findings, and implements hazard control strategies to ensure employee, community, and environmental health.
• Assists with environmental sampling as needed.
• Supports the emergency preparedness and response capabilities of the EH&S department.
• Leverages strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with employees, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or Associate's degree with 5 years of experience in safety.
• OSHA 30 Hour General Industry certification within 6 months of hire.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to recognize safety risks and apply effective safety controls.
