About the position

The SafeState Environmental Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for providing routine industrial hygiene consultation services, including onsite visits to businesses and industries in Alabama. This role involves conducting inspections, risk assessments, and developing safety controls to ensure compliance with environmental health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities
• Provide routine industrial hygiene consultation services including onsite visits to businesses and industries in Alabama.
,
• Conduct lead-based paint inspections, risk assessments, clearances, and Asbestos AHERA and ASHARA inspections.
,
• Perform mold assessments and industrial hygiene surveys.
,
• Document activities and identify hazards during inspections.
,
• Assist in developing controls for identified hazards.
,
• Collaborate with SafeState Environmental Programs for inspections and assessments.

Requirements
• High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of occupational safety experience; OR associate's degree and two (2) years of occupational safety experience; OR bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, safety science, business, management, public health, or physical sciences and some occupational safety experience.

• Valid U.S. driver's license.

• Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.

Nice-to-haves
• Knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency regulations.
