HDR is seeking a Roadway and Infrastructure Lighting Engineer in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Roadway and Infrastructure Lighting Engineer with experience in lighting design to create safe and efficient lighting systems for roads, highways, tunnels, and other public infrastructure. The duties and responsibilities include:
• Conduct site inspections and surveys to assess the existing lighting conditions, review as-built conditions of the existing lighting control centers for available capacity and utilization
• Design, specify, and oversee the production of roadway and infrastructure lighting systems plans
• Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed plans and models
• Ensure all lighting designs comply with relevant standards and regulations published by FDOT, FHWA, and local government s
• Assess the environmental impact of lighting designs and aim to minimize light pollution
• Work closely with contractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure projects are completed to specification
• Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and project proposals
• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in lighting technology and design trends
• Address any concerns or complaints related to lighting, and adjust as necessary
• Review plans and design documents prepared by others. Perform Quality Control review of in-house projects and serve as the QC engineer for the lighting plans prepared by the client’s in-house forces

Preferred Quals
• Skills in electrical load analysis and voltage drop computations, lighting control panelboard sizing, associated with heavy to medium transportation/highway projects including bridges, box girder maintenance lighting, generator sizing for electrical power backup of electrical substations
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Agi32 programs
• Strong verbal and written skills
• PE with concentration in the electrical engineering examination domain
• Understanding and ability to interpret NEC, NESC and OSHA CFR rules
• Previous experience in electrical design of buildings is optional

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
• Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
