Job Description

Anaergia is seeking an RNG Assistant Manager in Johnston, RI, to support the operation of the Renewable Natural Gas System at the Rhode Island Bioenergy Facility. The role involves engineering principles, hands-on work, and ensuring plant safety and efficiency. Responsibilities include monitoring equipment, maintaining plant uptime, conducting inspections, and supporting maintenance. Candidates should have a college diploma in engineering or a related field, along with manufacturing experience.

About the role: The successful candidate will support the safe and effective operation of the Renewable Natural Gas System of the Rhode Island Bioenergy Facility. This role is a combination of engineering principles and hands on work in the field supported by site maintenance and operational staff.

Job Responsibilities:
• Plant start-up shut down, and management of power outage situations in safe manner.
• Adhere to all plant safety rules, codes, and regulations, including PPE, using handheld gas monitoring device.
• Keep the work area clean of any trip or slip hazards and maintain housekeeping.
• Monitoring operating equipment and adjusting manual and/or automated controls as necessary to meet performance and production goals that are set for methane capture rates and plant runtimes.
• Ensure the safe moving of chemical and plant machinery on site.
• Consistently maintain plant uptime and availability by effective SCADA operation and by predicting possible failure and allocating work/job orders on time.
• Collecting oil, water, wastewater, gas, and air samples for analysis to determine operational efficiencies and any necessary.
• Identify opportunities to constantly improve plant operations to reduce risk, reduce time, and optimize performance.
• Investigating all types and levels of problems (from minor to major), recommend or perform appropriate repairs, replacements, and enhancements.
• Identify and mitigate process risks and keep chemical consumption within tolerable range.
• Provide all relevant information to the plant operation manager for daily log or report preparation.
• Use general plant operation skills with respect to pump, blower, and compressor operations.
• Maintain safe work environment - target zero incidents and injuries, bring up any unsafe activities or process to plant operation supervisor.
• Consistently aim to meet all environmental compliance requirements.
• Conduct daily area inspections and audit rounds and fill out check sheets.
• Support maintenance as necessary.
• In-depth understanding of PID control system will aid in troubleshooting.
• Coordinating/Identifying vendors.
• Identifying maintenance requirements and planning maintenance outages.
• Entering and tracking orders in CMMS and completing preventive maintenance and work orders as assigned.
• Identifying failure points and purchasing correct spare parts accordingly.
• Responding to alarms/shutdowns timely.
• Mobilizing onsite for troubleshooting/equipment repair.
• 24/7 coverage and availability to maintain unit uptime/assist shift employees on RNG operation as needed.

Job Requirements: Education and Experience
• A College Diploma in Engineering or a related field, with experience working in a manufacturing environment, is preferred.
• Preferred applicants to have 1-3 years experience with SCADA/ waste handling and preparation, water processes, anaerobic digestion, and bio-gas generation.

Skills
• Wastewater or bio-energy plant experience, in particular anaerobic digestion, is an asset.
• RNG upgrading or similar gas processing (PSA system).
• Oil & Gas experience.
• Heavy Industrial plant experience.
• Moderate to advanced maintenance skills.
• Promote a safety culture on site.
• Flexible, positive, and proactive attitude to work.
• Strong team player.
• Flexibility to work shifts/patterns.
• Good communication skills.
• Advanced computer skills.
