Position Overview

Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., a Davey company, is seeking an experienced (5+ years of related professional experience), highly motivated Ecologist or Environmental Scientist to join our growing team in Louisville, Kentucky. The right person for this position will have a passion for restoring degraded streams and wetlands, a strong work ethic with a commitment to innovation, and excellent communication skills. The role will be a mixture of fieldwork and office-based work. PWS preferred.

Job Duties

The ideal candidate will add to an experienced team working on all aspects of stream and wetland restoration, including:

Wetland delineations and stream assessments

Vegetation surveys and vegetation community mapping

Developing vegetation establishment and maintenance plans for stream and wetland restoration projects

Threatened and Endangered Species studies

Mapping exotic/invasive species and recommending management strategies

Developing vegetation establishment and maintenance plans for stream and wetland restoration projects

Mentoring early career environmental scientists and interns, and working collaboratively with the design team

Meeting with project stakeholders, sponsors, and regulatory agency representatives

Report and proposal preparation

Qualifications

MINIMUM

Bachelors degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, conservation, or related field

5-7 years of experience working in the natural resources field performing ecological consulting work

Strong botanical identification skills

Familiarity with stream restoration industry and associated regulations (401/404)

Familiarity with Section 7 consultation process

Excellent writing and critical thinking skills

Ability to travel regionally

Valid driver's license and clean driving record

PREFERRED

Professional Wetland Scientist (Society of Wetland Scientists Professional Certification Program)
