About the position
Dewberry is seeking a Resilience Planner to join their Resilience Solutions Group, focusing on planning, policy, and technical analysis in hazard mitigation, emergency management, and climate change adaptation. The role involves assessing natural hazard risks and vulnerabilities, engaging with stakeholders, and developing strategies to enhance community resilience. The position is based in Denver, CO, and offers opportunities to work on innovative projects that aim to create safer communities.
Responsibilities
• Support development of natural hazard risk and vulnerability assessments.
,
• Effectively convey complex risk assessment results to non-technical audiences through visualizations and plain language.
,
• Conceptualize and support the development of digital communication and decision-making tools, including data analytics dashboards and custom web applications.
,
• Support the execution of technical studies and analytical processes related to resilience strategy and plan development.
,
• Facilitate collaborative meetings and discussions with partners, clients, and external stakeholders.
,
• Develop and conduct public outreach for community resilience projects, both virtual and in-person.
,
• Research, analyze, and develop effective hazard mitigation policy and design solutions for clients.
,
• Prepare plans, studies, reports, guides, and other technical documents.
,
• Apply principles of social equity and environmental justice to technical and strategic work.
,
• Represent Dewberry in meetings with clients to resolve complex issues and coordinate work.
,
• Assist Project Managers with developing technical and business proposals for new projects.
,
• Work on a diverse array of related projects to acquire supplementary technical and programmatic knowledge.
Requirements
• 6+ years of experience in natural hazard risk assessments or comparable processes.
,
• Bachelor's degree in Planning, Policy Analysis, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
,
• Experience working with large geospatial datasets and performing quantitative analyses.
,
• Proficient in ArcMap/Arc Pro and ArcGIS Online.
,
• Ability to effectively communicate technical information related to natural hazards and resilience in various formats.
,
• Strong time management skills to complete high-quality deliverables on tight timelines.
,
• Ability to support and facilitate community outreach and engagement meetings with diverse stakeholders.
,
• Self-motivated and able to function independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience with client interactions, task management, and business development.

• Knowledge of Tableau, Power BI, Adobe InDesign, and other data processing and visualization tools.
,
• Relevant professional credentials such as Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) or certified planner (AICP).

• Familiarity with programming languages for data analytics such as Python, SQL, and R.
