Waste Management is hiring a Residential Sales & Save Specialist for a remote role, requiring candidates to live within 50 miles of Phoenix. ## Overview

This is a remote role, not required to be in the office, with the specific requirement that the candidate lives within 50 miles of the Phoenix business unit. Internal employees from Tupelo, MS, Coraopolis, PA or Lombard, IL are eligible to apply. Must live and work in the US.

### A snapshot of the work

You will respond same day to controllable and uncontrollable customer sales and cancellation requests assigned to the Inside Sales Channel. Using telephone-based negotiation and consultative selling practices, you’ll work to maximize revenues, minimize the impact of cancellation requests and rate rollbacks, and secure updated customer contract agreements.

You will frequently handle escalations for customer service within the defined territory and will communicate and collaborate with the Market Area Sales Manager to support and resolve unique customer issues. The role emphasizes retaining current WM customers while also pursuing growth by matching WM services to customer needs.

- Salary information: The expected base range for this position across the U.S. is $19.50 - $20.50. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.

### Day-to-day activities and focus

You will sell and save: handling customer sales and cancellation requests, educating customers about contract details, and obtaining customer contract commitments. You will aim to reduce lost accounts by diffusing cancellation requests and to increase revenue and profitability by executing effective plans on sales and retention calls that improve service or profitability while minimizing price rollbacks.

You’ll prepare complex proposals and make recommendations on equipment optimization and leasing options, proposing customer solutions that comply with local, state and federal regulations. The role requires effective use of WM sales productivity software tools such as Prospect and Customer Database, Proposal Program, Pricing Tools, Genesys, Green Pages, and similar systems.

### Experience, education and other requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED (accredited) and one year of relevant work experience.

Experience: One (1) year of consumer-based industry sales (in addition to education requirement). Internal requirements include nine (9) months of proven success in a position involving customer interaction.

Certificates/Licenses: None required.

Other competencies expected include the ability to build relationships, communicate with impact, demonstrate professionalism, make sound decisions, think strategically, be proficient with computer and software applications, produce results, know the business, influence and negotiate, manage work/time, and use ethical practices.

The normal setting for this job is: Remote / work from home, customer industrial facilities, corporate offices, airports, hotels. Attire for this job is: business, business casual.
