SMEC has opportunities in our Rail & Metro team for a Resident Engineer to work on a local project in Bangladesh.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage and supervise all railway electrical and system staff; including signalling, telecommunications, SCADA, AFC, PSD, TVS, ECS, Fire Protection Water and Drainage systems, power distribution systems, overhead contact systems, rolling stock, depot equipment, etc.;
• Assist Interface Management expert to ensure that the detailed design, specifications, standards and codes proposed by the DSI Contractor comply with the employer’s requirements and contract documents;
• Assist the Interface Management expert in coordinating among the Contractors to establish the design criteria for interfacing and integrating;
• Assist the Client in making contractor design interface coordination and recommend measures to eliminate or mitigate potential conflicts and claims aiming to make integration in various elements in the Project in terms of construction, operation and maintenance;
• Make suitable arrangements with their specialists and engineers to monitor the performance of the DSI Contractors and their Subcontractors;
• Recommend measures to prevent, resolve, counter or mitigate such claims related to railway electrical works. Any deviation made by the Contractor from the Contractor requirement, which may affect the safety, durability, cost or progress of the works, will also be duly brought to the notice of the TL and the Client, along with their recommendations for remedial measures;
• Inspect and monitor the implementation of the training provided by the Contractor;
• Provide monthly reports to the TL covering the progress of the electrical works and others;

Key Requirements
• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline;
• Minimum 20 years of professional experience out of which 10 years of professional experience in railway system works;
• 5 years of working experience as a Resident Engineer, Railway Systems;
• Ideal candidate should have demonstrated international work experience in the Rail & Metro Project financed by multilateral or bilateral development partners;
