Reserves Assistant – Spurn
35 hours per week
£22,741 – £24,164 per annum
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations and seeks to appoint a Reserves Assistant.
The Reserves Assistant role is a key role within our passionate and enthusiastic team at Spurn. Spurn Point National Nature Reserve is a nationally and internationally important place, and this is an opportunity for the right candidate to join our friendly team in delivering practical conservation work across this unique part of Yorkshire’s coastline.
Using your knowledge of habitat and land management, you will work closely with colleagues to deliver the works outlined in the Spurn Management Plan using hand and mechanical tools that enable us to manage the reserve in compliance with our Agri Environment schemes.
Other key activities include monitoring and recording the wide range of plant and animal species that our iconic nature reserve supports, livestock welfare duties and the coordination of practical task days that are supported by our team of skilled volunteers.
As well as having a strong commitment to nature conservation, your high level of self-motivation will enable you work effectively in this remote environment whilst gaining an in-depth understanding of the regulatory frameworks that apply to Spurn as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Special Area of Conservation (SAC), Special Protection Area (SPA) and Ramsar site.
You’ll need to be an excellent team player, with a willingness to help our on-site terrestrial and marine leads to develop and continuously improve the conservation activity being delivered across the reserve, in addition to maintaining and enhancing Spurn’s good working relationship with external stakeholders.
How to apply:
Please submit an up-to-date CV and supporting statement. When writing your supporting statement, please refer to the person specification within the job description, and ensure you describe your relevant knowledge, skills and experience relevant to the role.
